All is now set for the final journey home of Nigeria’s First Lady’s Mother, Madam Charity Fyneface Oba, whose demise occurred July 22, 2013.

The burial activities, which commence Thursday, October 31, 2013, with a brief Service Of Songs at the Port Harcourt Polo Club, GRA Phrase 2, will be rounded up on Friday, November 1, 2013, with Funeral Service at the National Field, Okrika, followed by interment at her husband’s compound at Ambemembiri, Okrika, and  reception later for guests at the Palace of His Royal Highness, Late Sir S. P.U. Ogan, the Amayanabo of Okrika.

To give a befitting funeral rites to his Mother-in-Law, the President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is expected in Port Harcourt tomorrow (Thursday) as the body of late Madam Charity Fyneface Oba leaves Kpaima Mortuary same day for her residence at King Perekule Street, GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt, Rivers State by 8:00am.

Below is a Biography of Senior Mother Charity Onyekwululachiya Fyneface Oba (Mama Sisi).

In the year 1946, a baby girl was born into the family of Late Mr Oriaku Ezuruike and Late Mrs Okanma Oriaku Ezuruike of Umunlewe Umuekwule Afugiri, in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria.

The baby was Senior Mother Charity Onyekwululachiya. She was the last and only female child of this marriage. She grew up like any other child. Mama Sisi, as she was popularly called by her children, attended Methodist Central School, Afugiri. During her brief stay in school, she was a brilliant student but had to withdraw from school in standard three because of the sudden death of her parents and lack of sponsorship. After the death of her parents, she stayed with her aunt in Onisha, who introduced her to trading.

Senior Mother Charity Onyekwululachiya was married to Late Mr Amagberepakakie Fyneface Oba of Sokobe War Canoe House in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State in 1971. She was a devoted and loving wife, caring mother not only to her children but also to other children in the family. Her marriage to Late Mr Amagberepakakie Fyneface was blessed with many children. Mama Sisi brought up her children in the fear of God. She did not spare the rod and spoil the child.

Mama Sisi was an accomplished business woman. She started modestly. As her business grew, she diversified into the sale of snails, dry-fish, frozen foods and textiles. She later became an employer of labour with over thirty employees in her various businesses. Mama Sisi was an industrious, energetic and widely travelled business woman.

She was truly a mother in Israel who gave her very best to her children and transformed many lives positively. Her house was a rallying point for people from Aba, Abasi-biye, Benin, Calabar, Down-blow, Jos, Lagos, River-Seven, Umuahia and all other places where her trade took her to. She was a bridge builder and an instrument of change.

Late Senior Mother Charity was a devout Christian who loved the things of the Lord. She joined the Cherubim and Seraphim Church at Onisha when she was staying with her aunt. She continued with the Church after she got married and went to live in Port Harcourt. She was an active member, chorister, prayer warrior and ordained Senior Lady Leader.

In 1990, she joined the Sabbath Church, due to her passion for the work of the Lord. She gave bountifully to support the propagation of the Gospel and strongly believed that God will work in your vineyard if you work for Him. Her dedication to charity earned her the rank of Senior Mother. She was a member of both Sabbath Women Conference (S.W.C), and United Council of Sabbath International (U.C.S.I), Port Harcourt. She was indeed, the Dorcas of our generation.

In line with her name Charity, Mama Sisi was indeed a charitable woman. Despite all odds she faced as an orphan, her kind and forgiving disposition did not wane. She was benevolent and compassionate; she was a good listener and an epitome of humility. She never tolerated injustice. All these qualities made her people, the Afugiri Federated Union, (Women’s Wing) to honour her with the highly esteemed titled of Ada Ukwul of Nlewe.

Mama Sisi was a healthy woman, full of life till the cold hands of death suddenly snatched her away from us on that fateful day of 22nd July, 2013.

NEW PDP AS UNITED AS EVER •Blames satanic rumour on Tukur’s Faction

Posted on October 31, 2013. Filed under: Press Release | Tags: |

The New Peoples Democratic Party (New PDP) wishes to reassure our numerous members, as well as the rest of Nigerians and the entire world, that we remain firmly united and that there is no crack whatsoever in our ranks.

This reassurance has become necessary in view of the antics of detractors desperate to deceive the public and to sow the seed of discord in our midst. These enemies of democracy routinely plant stories in the mass media to the effect that our ranks have become depleted but such stories inevitably end up being exposed as mere tissues of lies.

The latest of such fictions was the report which made the rounds yesterday purporting that His Excellency, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, Governor of Niger State, had resigned from the New PDP. Of course, Governor Aliyu, who is also Leader of the Group of 7 (G7) Progressive Governors, was quick to rubbish the reports and to restate his commitment towards the actualization of our lofty vision to reclaim the PDP from the hands of the anti-democratic forces that have hijacked it and reform the party in keeping with the vision of its founding fathers.

Investigations have traced the satanic rumour about Governor Aliyu’s imaginary resignation to the failed politicians in the PDP faction loyal to Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

We have noted with happiness the short-lived celebration by the Tukur faction over this false report – which betrays their culpability in the fabrication of the discredited report.

For the avoidance of doubt, the New PDP under the leadership of Alhaji Aubakar Kawu Baraje is made up of selfless and committed patriotic Nigerians desirous of building a new Nigeria as envisaged by the founding fathers, using our great party as the starting point. Contrary to the belief in some quarters, we are not in this struggle for personal gains. Therefore, anyone waiting to see one New PDP leader or the other dump the party for pecuniary considerations should be prepared to wait forever.

We wish to use this opportunity to once more thank our members for their steadfastness and the rest of Nigerians who have demonstrated their love and affection towards us since we embarked on this struggle. With your continued support and prayers, our cause is sure to meet with success.

Long live NPDP!

Long live Nigeria!!!

2015: Orji Kalu and raging Northerners

Posted on October 31, 2013. Filed under: Opinion | Tags: |

By Odimegwu Onwumere

The many voices from the northern part of the country are deliberately banging that power must return to the north in 2015. The undoing of these voices is the unrepresentative tune that has pervaded to tell Nigerians which part of the north they expect the power to return to, unlike Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has always sounded not misleading that power must return to the South-East of the country.

As we may know, the Hausa/Fulani see power as their inheritance that must not be tasted by other Nigerians, let alone, by minorities in the north. But they are good at calling on all northerners to fight for a collective cause, such as the illusory yearning that power must return to the north in 2015.

It is evident that the matrix ‘born to rule Nigeria’, as has been associated with northerners, is not the conviction of all the peoples of the north, but the credence of Hausa/Fulani dominating north, who see Nigeria as their legacy that must be self-interestedly protected by them, but using the minorities of the North, as prepared instruments.

They also see the people from the Southern part of the country as defeated peoples that must be controlled in the country as long as it lasts. It was this hindsight that perhaps ignited the comment that was credited to Francois Duvalier, then President of Haiti, March 22, 1969, which substantiated that the “Federal Nigeria has never since her independence shown the distinctive mark of a united nation. It has been impossible for her to silence tribal rivalries – to achieve that mixture of ethnic/cultural blend required to forge National Unity.”

But what President Duvalier saw around 1969, was the aim and object of Hausa/Fulani hegemony in the north, which in 1952, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa had addressed the Northern House of Assembly, and purportedly submitted that: “The Southern people who are swamping into this region daily in such large numbers are really intruders; we don’t want them and they are not welcome here in the North.

“Since 1914, the British Government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country. But the people are different in every way, including religion, custom, language and aspirations… we in the North take it that Nigeria unity is only a British intention for the country they created. IT IS NOT FOR US.”

Known for their (Hausa/Fulani) ground-breaking appetite in hostilities, Sir Ahmadu Bello apparently approached the Colonial Secretary in the same year, and said, “If you want us (the North) to be part of this Nigeria you have in mind, then we want 50% of the membership of the National Assembly.”

Out-of-control, many Hausa/Fulani anti-truths have tried by magic or design to defend or discredit these comments credited to their personalities, but could not. They, however, resorted to labeling anybody who referred them to such comments as anti-Northerners, or something. But a keen observer of the Nigerian politics would attest to the fact that Hausa/Fulani peoples of the north have always been in disagreement that the manifold ethnic-groups in the country is the ultra of all the realities that formed Nigeria.

We could recall that when President Goodluck Jonathan on the 15th September 2010 made his aim known that he needed the mandate of his party and Nigerians for another four years, the Hausa/Fulani went on rampage. They threatened fire and brimstone through many avenues of which one was an advertorial put up in a national daily by one group with the name Northern Elders Forum/Assembly.

In the same manner, Dr Dikko was said to have made the following comment to Abiola in 1983: “Presidency is not for sale”. The Hausa/Fulani peoples of the north have always been bigheaded with statements that were tailored to churlish the people from across the Niger from becoming President of Nigeria.

But what Hausa/Fulani have always forgotten or remembered but are reluctant to hold onto truth are the political supports they have garnered from places like Ijaw, Ibibio,  Efik, Ikwerre, Kalabari, Ogoni, Ndigbo and so on from the present South-East and South-South, since December 1959 till 2007. They have only paid the South-South and South-East zones with unacceptable coin of born-to-rule thoughtless mindset, hence killings and destruction to property of Ndigbo in the north becomes fad.

This is the reason all and sundry must support Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who has been shouting above his natural voice that 2015 should be for the South-East, because the people from this political zone have compromised much with the political equation in the country and are not ready for such again.

Without doubt, Kalu is not using selfishly, any ethnic minorities in the South as instrument for this cause just as the Shylockic voices from the north are not proportionate with the truth of where they want the power to be rested should the presidency return to the north. They are now involving all the minorities in the north, when it is obvious that Hausa/Fulani peoples would not allow any minority from there to be a civilian president.

Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu had formed the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA), when it was obvious that he wanted an Igbo presidency, but his kinsmen like ex-Gov. Ikedi Ohakim and Gov. T.A Orji, who were overwhelmingly voted by Ndigbo in their respective states of Abia and Imo, because a personality like Kalu was involved, jumped ship at last and worked against the party, but they could not submerge it.

Ndigbo have to align with Kalu since it is obvious that he is the lone voice now championing for Igbo Presidency in 2015, because Ndigbo are not sure when their role in defending their lives and their aboriginal land in the pogrom targeted against them that is christened Nigeria/Biafra war will be forgiven by the powers that be in Nigeria.

Kalu is calling for synergy and corporation to move Nigeria forward. It is not sure what has made other Igbo politicians and dignitaries to be mute. He does not want Ndigbo to bear grudges against any tribes in Nigeria for all the pains they have been enduring in Nigeria, because he is of the principle that his movement for Igbo presidency will never be unproductive.

We Are Now Endangered Species – nPDP

Bayelsa Police Coomand Press Release on nPDP leaders

Bayelsa Police Coomand Press Release on nPDP leaders

The nPDP says it has become necessary to raise alarm over what it calls “the war” declared on the New Peoples Democratic Party (NPDP) and its members by certain agents and henchmen of the Goodluck Jonathan administration who have embarked on a mission to intimidate and overawe us, using various unconstitutional means to achieve their selfish goals.

The National PDP faction chaired by Alhaji Kawu Baraje said in the past few weeks have witnessed the implementation of a well-coordinated and systematic plot to traumatise, annihilate and cripple the group economically and politically in flagrant disregard of Chapter IV Section 33 to 45 of the Nigerian Constitution that guarantees their fundamental human rights as Nigerians.

A statement to NF-Reports on Sunday 27th October 2013, by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze the National Publicity Secretary of the splinter PDP reeled out what he described as “the excesses of these agents of confusion and enemies of democracy”.

Contrary to the provisions of Chapter IV Sections 42, 43 and 44 of the Constitution which guarantee our right as Nigerians to acquire and own property in any part of the country, our National Secretariat and most of our State Secretariats have been sealed up by the Police on the orders of those in power. This is despite the fact that we still have a court case against Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and his National Working Committee (NWC).

Two weeks ago, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in its over zealousness to please President Jonathan marked our sealed National Secretariat for demolition on the laughable excuse that it was originally approved as a residential building. Yet this property was being used as the National Secretariat of another political party, the National Democratic Party (NDP), before New PDP acquired it – and the same FCTA kept mute! At that time, the FCTA did not realise that it violated land use but it now wants to demolish the building in a hurry simply because the authorities perceive the new owner (New PDP) to be anti-government! What is more, the Adamawa State Lodge, also in Abuja, which we were using as temporary National Secretariat, has also been sealed off on the flimsy excuse that the area is not for commercial activities!

This invidious crackdown has been extended to individual leaders of the New PDP. The legally acquired Abuja property of His Excellency, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Governor of Kano State, has been revoked by the tyrannical Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed. The same treatment has been meted to Senator Aisha Al-Hassan from Taraba State, whose event centre, A-Park Gardens, which has been in operation all these years, has suddenly been revoked by the FCTA and slated to be demolished at any time from now. Information available to us indicates that property in Abuja owned by other New PDP leaders may suffer the same fate.

Today, the security details attached to Senators Abubakar Bukola Saraki and Danjuma Goje, former Governors of Kwara and Gombe states respectively, have been withdrawn; so, too, the security details attached to our National Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje. Of course, Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State was the first victim and now operates without an ADC and a CSO in order to pave way for his kidnapping or assassination if peaceful ways of removing him from office have fail. The police orderlies of the Rivers State SSG and those of Amaechi’s Chief of Staff have also been similarly withdrawn without any cogent reasons.

The use of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to hound our members is no longer news. His Excellency Timipre Sylva, the former Governor of Bayelsa State, and Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki are two foremost examples. We understand that the worst is yet to come as this unserious organ masquerading as an anti-graft agency would soon be unleashed on all our key members in both the Senate and House of Representatives in an operation code-named “Operation Coerce Them Back to Tukur”.

On its part, the Nigeria Police, which has woefully failed to find a solution to the menace of Boko Haram, kidnapping, assassination and other criminal acts ravaging the country, has been given a fresh mandate to frame up our members and term them criminals in order to keep them at bay. The experiment has already started in Bayelsa, the home state of President Jonathan, where 85% of the citizens have indicated interest to work against his second term ambition due to the total neglect of the state and the entire Niger Delta region by the present administration. The Press release by the Bayelsa Police Command attached and displayed below attests to this evil strategy!

According to the Bayelsa State Police Command in its press release attached and displayed below dated October 4th, 2013 and signed by the Police Relations Officer, DSP Akhigwe Alex, on behalf of the State Police Commissioner, “Bayelsa State Command wishes to inform the general public that as a result of complaints from well-meaning citizens of Bayelsa State most of which bothers on criminality against one Richard Poekene Kpodo, a high powered investigation Committee headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Central Instigation Department has been set up to look into the various crimes allegedly committed by him and members of his syndicates”

But what is the crime of Chief Richard Kpodo? He has suddenly become a criminal by joining and becoming the State Chairman of the Baraje-led faction of the PDP in Bayelsa! Curiously, his present hunters have conveniently forgotten that this was the same man who was in the forefront of the Campaign Team of President Jonathan in 2011. His State Secretary, Sidi D. Godwill, was the Zonal Youth Leader of PDP. These two, together with all other key members of the Baraje-led PDP, can no longer visit Bayelsa State just because of politics!

The crackdown took a new and frightening dimension yesterday morning 26th October, 2013 when Tonye Okio, the Publicity Secretary of the New PDP in Bayelsa State, was abducted by the Bayelsa State Police Command in a commando fashion in his Abuja residence and whisked off to Bayelsa for a possible trail as a criminal just because he speaks against the tyrannical style of leadership of the present leadership in the country.

Few days ago, in a move to root out our people in Gombe State one of the mainstay of our party based on the revolutionary regime of His Excellency Senator Danjuma Goje and his unremarkable feats in areas of road construction, health, education, rural development and provision of portable water which made him the toast of the masses of Gombe and after the Baraje led PDP has overrun both the Government machinery and the aging Tukur’s faction of PDP, our leader in the State, Hon. Barr Mohammed Magaji Doho who was the Commissioner of Water Resources for eight years during the golden tenure of Senator Goje has been arrested. This bulldozer and a ruthless grass-root mobiliser together with 68 of our members were arrested by the Police Command in Gombe State for no cogent reasons.

This ruthless trampling on our fundamental human rights leaves no one in doubt that the Jonathan administration is intolerant of opposing views. Nigerians can now see what we meant when we said that these people are no democrats. They are intent on turning our country into a banana republic where the rights of Nigerians no longer count. Nigerians should prepare for the worst because today it is New PDP but tomorrow it would certainly be somebody else.

We hereby appeal to President Jonathan to be a statesman and call these dogs of war to order before they do irreversible damage to our dear country. We also call on Nigerians to intensify prayers for us and our troubled nation even as we restate our resolve not to go back on our sacred duty to reform the PDP and contribute our quota towards the evolution of a truly democratic Nigeria where the rights of all citizens are respected irrespective of their political affiliations.

New PDP Set to Receive 5 More PDP Governors, Appeals Court Ruling

Posted on October 24, 2013. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , |

The New Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has filed a notice of appeal over last

week’s ruling by a Federal High Court, Abuja, restraining it from using PDP’s logo and colours and recognizing the Alhaji Bamabga Tukur-led National Working Committee (NWC) as the authentic leadership of the party.

The notice of appeal according to an online statement by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the spokesperson of the nPDP was filed on Thursday morning of 24 October, 2013, by its Team of lawyers led by Raji (SAN) before the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by Honourable Justice Evoh Chukwu, who ruled against the splinter PDP last Friday.

“We are also seeking an injunction and a stay of execution of Honourable Justice Chukwu’s ruling”, the nPDP said.

The breakaway PDP noted that decision to file the appeal was taken at an emergency meeting of the New PDP National Working Committee (NWC) following the return of the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, from the 2013 pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

“The decision was taken after the NWC carefully studied last Friday’s ruling by the Federal High Court and after due consultations with our team of lawyers.

“We once more wish to reiterate that we remain convinced that we have a good case and are thus determined to ensure that Tukur and his cohorts are not allowed to hold sway as the leaders of our great party.

“Our teeming members and supporters should, therefore, entertain no fears whatsoever and should remain steadfast as we seek to legally establish our case and logically conclude our mission to rescue the PDP from anti-democratic forces so as to restore the noble vision of the party’s founding fathers.
“Finally, due to the busy schedules of our Governors and most of the Stakeholders our proposed G7/Stakeholders/NWC meeting slated for this week will now hold by next week. Venue and time will duly be communicated to members by our National Secretary. One of the major issues slated for discussion is how to receive our new members particularly the five additional PDP Governors who have indicated interest in joining us”.

Wike: A Traitor and a Misfit – PDP

Posted on October 8, 2013. Filed under: Press Release | Tags: |

Mr Nyesom Wike Minister for Education

Mr Nyesom Wike Minister for Education

We have read with dismay the statement credited to the Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, that Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and the New Peoples Democratic Party are behind the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

We would have ordinarily ignored Wike’s outburst as the ranting of a confused and clueless minister but have decided to reply so as to set the record straight. We challenge Wike to produce evidence to back up his allegation or bury his head in shame forever.

If we may ask, was it Gov. Amaechi or any other of our members that negotiated on behalf of the Federal Government in 2009 when it reached the agreement with ASUU, which it has inexplicably refused to honour, thus laying the foundation for this lingering strike that has mortgaged the future of innocent Nigerian youths? And did any member of New PDP negotiate on the part of ASUU during the recently deadlocked talks with the FG over the strike?

It is unfortunate that instead of committing himself towards finding a solution to the crippling strike, Wike has instead chosen to trivialise the issue and to ridicule himself. Unfortunately, it is the actions and utterances of court jesters like Wike that have made perceptive Nigerians to describe the Goodluck Jonathan administration as a kindergarten government.

For Wike to have made this statement against a group that ordered her members to fast and pray for this unfortunate strike for over a week and even set up a Committee under the Chairmanship of His Excellency, Gov Babangida Aliyu to proffer solutions on how to come out of the quagmire occasioned by Wike’s inability simply demonstrates the lack of wisdom on his side!

We are at a loss as to how a supposedly serious government should continue to retain such an incompetent and unserious mind as a Minister of the very strategic Ministry of Education in a country teeming with accomplished educationists and administrators if not for undemocratic motor-park democracy he specializes on.

In any case, we are not overly surprised by Wike’s tirade because a man who could engineer the stoning of visiting State Governors from other parts of the country without caring a hoot about the consequences is capable of saying or doing anything, no matter how outrageous.

Let us reiterate that should he ever make another derogatory statement about the Baraje led PDP, we will teach him some lessons on how to talk as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and he should note that New PDP is not Rivers State where he has because of his greed mess up governance!

The fact remains that to say that Wike is a disaster as a Minister is to state the obvious. We advise him to minimize the damage which he is doing to the Jonathan administration by concentrating on his work instead of busying himself making enemies for the President whom he pretends to be loyally serving but whose downfall he is secretly plotting in keeping with his traitorous nature.

Instead of President Jonathan addressing enemies within his cabinet he is busy persecuting and embarrassing his true friends and political associates that matters in his political calculations!

A word is enough for the wise.

Long live PDP!

Long live Nigeria!!!

PDP Condoles Late Tonye Harry Family …Faults Gov Amaechi’s Claim Over Health Facilities

Posted on October 8, 2013. Filed under: Press Release | Tags: |

Gov Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi

Gov Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the death of the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Tonye Willie Harry as one too many.

Harry’s death, the party noted threw not only the political class off balance, but all his friends and associates as there was no prior knowledge of the failing health of the lawmaker before the sad news of Friday, October 4, 2013.

The party through a statement issued and signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the state chairman of the party, Jerry Needam commiserates with the wife and children of late Tonye Harry and the entire people of Degema State Constituency over the sudden demise of the former lawmaker, urging them to take solace in the enviable legacy of humility and Godfearing life led by Tonye Harry while alive.

By Tonye Harry’s untimely exit, the entire Rivers political class is bereaved, the PDP further noted, saying his death has created a hole on the state body politic very difficult to feel.

The party recalls with nostalgia the peaceful and serious minded legislative session which late Tonye Harry presided over as the Speaker which will remain a reference point for a long time.

The party however regrets that the state notwithstanding its huge resources still lacks the hospitals with the modern state of art facilities to save the life of the former Speaker who died while being flown to a French hospital despite all the claims of well equipped tertiary health institutions in the state by the Amaechi-led government like the Kesley Harrison and Maxillofacial Hospitals in Port Harcourt.

Perhaps, the life of late Tonye Harry would have been saved if there were these facilities locally available, the party insists, accusing Gov Amaechi of wasting the state resources in unnecessary politicking instead of channeling them in meaningful ventures.

“It’s now confirmed that all the noise of government breakthrough in healthcare delivery is a wild claim that has no content as there is no evidence of any facility in the state that can arrest a heart failure and, or sustain life for even an hour”, the PDP regrets.

While sending its heartfelt sympathies to the immediate family of the deceased, the party prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and also grant the soul of late Tonye Harry peaceful repose.
