Ex-Rivers Deputy Gov. Ikuru Was A PDP Mole in APC – Rivers APC
His Defection is Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

By Nwaorgu Faustinus
The defection of erstwhile Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Engr. Tele Ikuru, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as good riddance to bad rubbish by Rivers APC.
In a statement he issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt shortly after Ikuru announced his defection, Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said: “Contrary to the thinking in some quarters, the defection of Engr. Tele Ikuru did not come to us as a surprise. Rather than being shocked, we feel relieved that he is no more part of us because Ikuru was a PDP mole in our midst. Unknown to most people, Ikuru initially refused to leave PDP for APC with Governor Rotimi Amaechi in November 2013. However, after series of meetings with his uncle and political mentor, Chief Uche Secondus, the National Vice Chairman of PDP, and some other PDP bigwigs, he was prevailed upon to follow his principal into APC.

“Engr Ikuru was asked to stay behind to monitor the activities of APC and most importantly to act as a mole for his uncle and plot the fall of APC in the State – a mission which he failed to accomplish because APC is not just a party in Rivers State but indeed a revolutionary movement fully embraced and jealously guarded by the people of the State.”

Dr. Ikanya disclosed that PDP and Engr. Ikuru’s calculation was that Governor Amaechi would be impeached by hook or crook to clear the way for Ikuru’s assumption of office as governor. According to him, “In keeping with the plot of making Ikuru the substantive Governor of Rivers State, PDP set in motion a machinery to use five misguided members of the State House of Assembly to impeach the Speaker, but the move was foiled by the Majority Leader, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, and other loyal members of the House. The plan was that after impeaching the Speaker, the five renegade lawmakers would go ahead to impeach Governor Amaechi and subsequently declare Engr. Tele Ikuru as the substantive Governor.

“When this plot failed, Engr. Ikuru was asked to remain in APC in the hope that the Presidency would somehow find a way to force Gov. Amaechi out of office. As part of this plot, the Presidency contrived a crisis with regard to the appointment of a Chief Judge for the State but failed to actualise the appointment of Justice Daisy Okocha, who was expected to facilitate the impeachment of Gov Amaechi. When this plot failed, PDP resorted to the mobilisation of ex-militants from Bayelsa and Rivers states to protest in the State in the hope that this would result in a insecurity crisis to be used as an excuse by the Presidency to declare a state of emergency in Rivers and impose Engr. Ikuru as Governor.”

Dr. Ikanya said that when all this failed, Engr. Ikuru was asked to remain in APC in the hope that the party would give him its gubernatorial ticket or a senatorial ticket. “When this failed his uncle, Uche Secondus, advised him to stay on but this time to destabalise APC in his Andoni Local Government Area. Towards this end, Engr. Ikuru pocketed hundreds of millions of naira meant for the development of the party in Andoni and threw in the towel as he was about to be called to account for anti-party activities. We are, therefore, expectedly relieved by his exit and wish to call on our teeming supporters not to shed a tear as it will have no effect whatsoever on the fortunes of APC and its candidates in the forthcoming general elections in the State,” the statement concluded.

Rivers State PDP Responsible For Snatching 14,000 PVCs – APC Spokesman Alleges

Rivers State PDP Responsible For Snatching 14,000 PVCs – APC Spokesman Alleges

Events of recent days have confirmed the information in possession of the APC in Rivers State that it was agents of PDP that snatched 14,000 Permanent Voter Cards [PVCs] belonging to innocent voters across Rivers State.

Having been helped out of their dreamland of rigging the forthcoming elections with cloned and stolen Permanent Voter Cards [PVCs] last Saturday when the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] conducted a mock voter accreditation, members of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in Rivers in Rivers State have now resorted to blackmailing owners of PVCs which PDP hoodlums earlier snatched from INEC officials at various locations in the state. Recall that the INEC in Rivers State had announced sometime ago that about 14,000 PVCs were snatched by hoodlums across Rivers State

What the PDP members now do is calling owners of PVCs on phone asking each PCV owner which party he/she will vote for and if the answer is ‘PDP’ then they tell where to go to pick up his/her PVC. And if the answer is ‘APC’ then the caller cuts the line.

By this singular act, it is obvious that the snatching of the over 14,000 PVCs was perpetrated by the PDP in Rivers State. Even before this came to light now, the intelligence unit of the R/S APC have had reports of PDP locations where these nefarious activities take place. One is in Woji and another is in Elelenwo. It is believed that there are many more locations where the PDP members are undertaking this evil plan especially around those areas where the PVC snatchings took place.

The APC expects that any serious political party should work assiduously to support the INEC to conduct free, fair and credible elections and not to contrive all kinds of contraptions to subvert the electoral process to help it win. The APC believes that electoral contests – like all other contests – must be kept clean.

Unfortunately, consistent calls by the APC on the security agencies to clamp down on these criminal activities of the PDP in Rivers State appear to be ignored. But we will continue to highlight these issues for the attention and action of the nation’s security organisations, local and international observers, the National Human Rights Commission, the embassies of the EU countries, the UN and all people of goodwill until concrete actions are taken to stem and stamp out these negative machinations of the PDP in Rivers State.

Jonathan is a better candidate, Olejeme tells Nigerian women

Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Olojeme

The Deputy Chairman, Finance Committee of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, Dr. Ngozi Olejeme recently reflected on the acts of courage and determination made by women in the fight for equality so far, praising President Goodluck Jonathan for elevating women in the country.

“We have witnessed a transformation in women’s participation in public life. More women are exercising leadership in politics and business, more girls are going to school” she said.

In her message for International Women’s Day 2015, Olejeme urged women to make an informed decision when choosing the next president of the country.

“Nigeria is moving in the right direction. Women have received reasonable positions in government at the federal level. President Jonathan is promoting girl education in remote villages. We have the environment conducive to business investments and trade. We have policies that are expanding the economy. There is the rule of law in this country. The Jonathan led People’s Democratic Party government is committed to fiscal prudence” she said.

Olejeme advised Nigerian men to move beyond rhetoric and take action to improve the quality of life of women by removing the many obstacles that impede full and equal participation by women at so many levels.

“Women must exercise their choices; they must participate in politics, have income, and live in societies free from violence and discrimination. Women must have access to education and play a full role in the communities’ decision-making processes” she said.

Olejeme also urged women to redouble their efforts to achieve gender equality, and stressed the need for Nigerian women to be guided by a three- word motto: Together We Build.

“We must keep our eyes on the long -range prize for self and country. We must take an active part in the coming elections and structures that will emerge from these elections”.

On what she knows would take Nigeria forward this month, Olejeme advised Nigerian women to vote for Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

“A vote for PDP is a vote for progressive policies, high management capacity and vision for serious challenges besetting Nigeria. It is also a vote for inspiring health facilities, high quality education and better future” she added.

Rivers APC Mourns 9 Murdered Members

Rivers APC Mourns 9 Murdered Members

DR IKANYA IBIAMU DAVIES THE APC RS INTERIM CHAIRMANThe All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has declared a week of mourning for nine of its members who were killed in two separate incidents in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Saturday night. While five of the men were killed in the D-Line area of Port Harcourt, the other four met their untimely death along the Eastern By-Pass in the Marine Base area of the state capital.

“Rivers APC condemns the killing of these innocent men without reservations. That only APC members were targeted in the two incidents indicates that these are politically motivated murders targeted at reducing our membership strength ahead of the 2015 elections. We are challenging the law enforcement agencies to rise to the occasion and apprehend and bring the culprits to book,” Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said in a statement issued Tuesday in Port Harcourt.

“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the death of these innocent men and regard them as martyrs of our nascent democracy. We wish to assure those they have left behind that these party faithful will be celebrated and mourned accordingly. Their deaths will strengthen us the more to ensure that evil men are not be allowed to govern our State again,” Ikanya added.
The State APC Chairman directed APC members throughout the State to use this Sunday, 15th March, to pray for the repose of their souls in their various churches. “We owe them this honour even as we strive to honour them the more by ensuring that their dream of landslide victory for our great party in the forthcoming general elections is realised,” he said.

Dr. Ikanya cautioned the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its supporters to eschew violence as no amount of violence and intimidation will save the party from being disgraced during the March 28 and April 11 general elections in the State.

We pray our friends and the International Community to constantly remember us in their prayers as both our candidate, Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside and all APC Chieftains are all targets for elimination by the newly assembled PDP Killer Squad.

Long Live APC!

Long Live Rivers State!!

Call Your Wife to Order Now, APC Spokesman Tells President Jonathan

Call Your Wife to Order Now, APC Spokesman Tells President Jonathan

image001“Our people do not give birth to uncountable children. Our men don’t give birth to children they dump in the streets. We are not like people from that part of the country”.  – Mrs. Patience Jonathan.

The attention of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Rivers State Chapter has been drawn to the unguarded and extremely shameful vituperations of the Nigerian First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan while on zonal campaign rallies for her husband across Nigeria recently.

Ordinarily, the APC would have remained amused at the futile comic relief her court-jestering was providing the serious political space and environment. But that cannot be the case when she has, in the past two weeks, descended into the abyss of opprobrious indecency with her words and body language.

At first, the First Lady went below the belt to describe the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress [APC], General Muhammadu Buhari [Rtd] as ‘brain dead.’ As if not done, she went ahead and lambasted the retired General in unprintable words, likening him to the grandfather of the President.

But as a nation already tired of her challenges with our second language watched on, the First Lady upped her game by foraging into areas where even angels fear to tread. By going beyond insulting General Buhari to taunting the section Buhari hails from as procreating uncontrollably, the APC wants to believe someone should caution Mrs. Patience Jonathan to be aware of the ensuing whirlwind that will result from the wind she is planting.

The APC would like to inform Mrs. Jonathan that the Ivory Coast’s former first lady, Simone Gbagbo, has just been sentenced to 20 years in jail for her role in the violence that followed the 2010 elections in that country. This should be instructive to our First Lady that her utterances have far-reaching consequences, good or bad. And how she ends up in history remains her responsibility, meaning that she should hold herself responsible for whatever her verbal incontinence and indiscretion brings to her, now or in the future.

It is important to remind our dear First Lady that wars and conflicts have, sometimes, been caused by wrong people finding themselves in the right places as we seem to have now.  But when the bell tolls, everyone will answer according his or her deeds but not before the damage is already done and lives lost.

However, it is the hope of the APC that Mr. President will do what any good husband does: call the wife to order. This will avert the fast growing anger building up in our brothers and sisters from the North who perceive her recent demeaning utterances as a collective insult. A stitch in time, they say, saves nine!

Shame as PDP Attempt to Test-run Cloned PVCs Fail in Rivers

Shame as PDP Attempt to Test-run Cloned PVCs Fail in Rivers

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State were shocked Saturday as some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made attempts to test-run cloned Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at various centres where the testing of the PVC readers were carried out by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State.

The attempt by the PDP members Saturday was a confirmation of the very suspicion by the APC that PDP members were up to some sneaky game when they embarked on massive purchase of PVCs from unsuspecting members of the public throughout Rivers State since 2014. Where they could not out rightly buy off the cards, they copied the serial number/PIN.

However, the insidious schemes of the PDP came to light as they sent out their members to take part during Saturday’s mock accreditation. Each and every of the cloned cards were rejected by the machines. Curiously, it was not clear why the officials of INEC did not order for the arrest of those PDP members.

In view of the disastrous failure of the PDP evil agenda, it is expected that the clamour for jettisoning of the PVC in the forthcoming elections will become more virulent and persistent. We believe that the PDP will intensify its campaign with some mushroom political parties to either scuttle the use of the PVC or the election itself.

We call on the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to investigate rejected cards and their owners to unravel what the APC believes to be part of a larger and more intricate scheme by the PDP in Rivers State to rig and subvert the electoral process in 2015. Those found to be part of the plan and their sponsors must be arrested, questioned and, if found culpable, charged to court immediately.
