Supreme Court won’t save you, prepare for a rerun – APC tells Wike

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APc) has advised Chief Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop wasting his time approaching the Supreme Court in his desperate bid to cling to a non-existing mandate as Rivers State governor.

The party gave the advice in response to Wike’s disclosure that he has instructed his lawyers to proceed to the apex court to seek a reversal of Wednesday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja upholding the October 24, 2015 judgment of the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal headed by Justice Suleiman Ambrosa, which nullified the declaration of Wike as governor and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in the state within 90 days.

Rivers APC said in a statement signed by the Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, and issued in Port Harcourt: “Chief Wike knows deep down in him that he did not win any election on April 11, 2015. He is only seeking to buy time by hopping from one court to the other in a doomed bid to avoid the inevitable, which is that his days as Care-taker Governor of Rivers State are drawing to an end. As a lawyer, we expect Wike to know that the Supreme Court cannot save him because he has no case. Common sense dictates that he should concentrate his energies on preparing for the fresh election ordered by the tribunal but, as the saying goes, common sense is not really common.”

The party reminded Wike that the Supreme Court had earlier ruled on appeal that he brought before it on the Rivers State election that indeed, “there was widespread violence during the election” and stop wasting his time and prepare for a rerun election that will enable the Rivers State to reclaim their State from his evil and maladministration of the State.

The APC reminded Wike of his boast that, “Even if Ban Ki-Moqqon comes to conduct the election, I will still win.”

“If this is the case, Wike should test his popularity and allow the Rivers State people to determine who governs them in a free and fair election void of intimidation and killings. Wike and his supporters are aware that if such an election takes place he will not win any Local Government Area in Rivers State” the party said.

Continuing, the party said, though the entire world knew that there was no election in Rivers State as captured by the legendary Prof Itsey Sagay, “Everybody knew that Wike was not elected. Wike got into power through a brutal manner and I have never seen such brutal approach to power except through a coup. What Wike did was a bloody civilian coup, what he did was a big embarrassment to this country and if he had gotten away with it, I tell you that would have been the end to any type of free and fair elections in the South South” so Wike should stop deceiving himself that he won any election that made him the Governor of Rivers State.

The party commended the judiciary for once more proving to be the hope of the common man by dispensing justice without fear or favour, and appealed to Rivers people to endure the few remaining weeks of Wike’s maladministration while getting ready to reaffirm their choice of the APC candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, as their next governor.

The party urged the security organs to investigate the death threat by Wike that the INEC officials that will conduct the rerun elections in Rivers State should write their will. This plea becomes imperative to avoid further blood bath in Rivers State because of election.

Igbuya who thanked the group for supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, recalled his father’s contribution to the music industry.

“My father was an organist. He played music but none of us took after him. However, we are using the Igbuya Foundation to support the music industry by sponsoring people at the university level” he said.

Rivers State: Wike finally exposes himself as responsible for violence, killings

Rivers State: Wike finally exposes himself as responsible for violence, killings

…Promises death to INEC officials

“After months of pretence and living in denial, the Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, yesterday, in full glare of the world on live television, threw all caution to the wind when he confirmed that he was responsible for all the killing and maiming that characterised the 2015 elections as he openly told his PDP faithful to be ready to unleash violence in the forthcoming re-run elections in Rivers State” the Rivers State APC recalled in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone.

The governor it would be recalled addressed his supporters at the Port Harcourt International Airport on arrival from Abuja and later at another event in Port Harcourt, asked his members to not only return any slap given to them but do so in threefold, among other unprintable things.

According to APC, His (Wike’s) audience was shocked when he warned that Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] officials sent to Rivers State who contemplates carrying out malpractices should first write their will as they will be put to instant death.

‘To all decent minds that saw or listened to the statements of the governor yesterday, Nyesom Wike’s vituperations were the ranting of a drowning man or, better put, the ranting of a frustrated Internally Displaced Politician [IDP]’ the APC said.

“In all, Nyesom Wike, by his unguarded utterances yesterday unbecoming of even a councillor, confirmed that he is behind the violence and criminality that are strangulating Rivers State since he came to power” the APC alleged.

The APC noted that what happened yesterday was God’s way of exposing a man who has been living in falsehood in order to fool the people and even God Himself, adding that all the pretences about worshiping God by paying visits to churches and holding prayer sessions for the benefit of television cameras were mere attempts to mock God by Nyesom Wike but God cannot be mocked.

The APC reminded Nyesom Wike that his unguarded diatribe against the Nigerian State, President Muhammadu Buhari and innocent Rivers people will not be taken lightly, warning that while immunity protects a governor from prosecution; it does not protect him from investigation.

The statement called on the relevant authorities especially the INEC to hold Nyesom Wike responsible for any violence or harm that may be done to INEC personnel while on duty during the forthcoming re-run elections in Rivers State.

“The APC believes that Nyesom Wike was merely talking tough to mask his inner despondency and misery arising from his recent legal losses. However, we are smart enough to take notice. We hear he is called High Tension, but High Tension without POWER is NOTHING” the statement concluded.

Appeal Court judgement: Peterside hails judiciary, congratulates Rivers people

Dr. Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State has hailed today’s verdict of the Appeal Court endorsing the earlier judgement of the Rivers Elections Petitions Tribunal on the nullification of April Rivers State governorship election.

Reacting to the judgement, Peterside praised the Nigerian judiciary for its courage and efforts towards deepening the nation’s democracy and political process.

According to him, the judiciary will be remembered for standing tall even in the face of unwarranted provocation and vilification by those who brazenly stole the peoples’ mandate during the March and April elections in Rivers State.

He also congratulated the people of Rivers State for their patience and understanding especially in view of the painful process of reclaiming their mandate.

“I am happy that the Nigerian judiciary is rekindling hope in our electoral process and in our country generally. This is so because the judiciary is sending the right signal, particularly to those who perpetrate violence and fraud during elections.

“Never again will a peoples’ mandate be subverted so viciously by a violent and self-seeking few, all in the name of political contest. Members of our party and supporters were murdered in cold blood in their homes and campaign grounds for their political beliefs. We are happy that this injustice is currently being addressed by a credible institution like the judiciary.

“We pray never to experience the level of persecution, violence and deaths that characterised both the March and April elections in our state. Democracy is about freedom, equality and justice; so everybody must join hands to defend it at all times.

“I therefore wish to dedicate our victories in the legislative and executive arms to our fallen brothers and sisters, our supporters and the entire Rivers people for believing in us and for keeping faith.

“Our state will be great again if and only when we vote into public office, our sons and daughters who will not bring shame to us by their words and actions.

“We, members of the APC know the needs of our people as we fully appreciate the leadership crisis rocking our state today. You have sacrificed and waited all these agonizing months for justice. Now, justice has come. I commend you and urge you to hold on a little more as we all march collectively towards entrenching the kind of leadership that would serve our overall interest irrespective of our political persuasions.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has urged the good people of the State to remain calm and law abiding in the face of what it described as “obvious gang-up” by the All Progressives Congress, APC led Federal Government against duly elected Governor of the State, Barr. Nyesom Wike and other elected lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, using some Justices of the Court of Appeal as willing tools to invalidate their elections.

Reacting to the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja today, the State Chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah enjoins members of the Party and Rivers People to remain law abiding assuring that “Governor Nyesom wike remains the Governor of Rivers State and the PDP would challenge the decision of the Appeal Court in Supreme Court.”

According to Bro Obuah, Mr Dakuku Peterside, 24 hours before the Appeal Court judgement, as he also did in the judgement of the Appeal Court on the National Assembly elections, had announced the date of the judgement and further declared that the APC will win, suggesting that he was in contact with the Justices of the Court of Appeal.

The PDP noted that they still hold the Judiciary in high esteemed and strongly believe that not all judicial officers can be compromised, adding that they will be heading to the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement of the Appeal Court today.

The PDP further assured their members and the good people of Rivers State, that Barr. Nyesom Wike remains the Governor of Rivers State as the PDP would take advantage of the provisions of the law to challenge the decision of the Appeal Court, in the Supreme Court.

Bro Obuah further assured that Governor Nyesom Wike and the PDP would emerge victorious at the end of the day.

Court of Appeal Verdict: Peterside hails judgement, counsels PDP

Court of Appeal Verdict: Peterside hails judgement, counsels PDP

Dakuku 3Dr. Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State has commended the verdict of the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja which sacked National Assembly members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The APC chieftain who spoke shortly after the announcement described the judgement as victory, not only for the long-suffering people of Rivers State but also for those who voted at the March and April elections.

Peterside in a press statement signed by Sylvester Asoya, his Special Assistant on Media and available to NF-Reports, said truth, which is essential in the quest for justice has prevailed.

He contended that the actions of the erudite Justices of the Appeal Court are demonstrative of a new Nigeria where a few will no longer stifle the voices and collective decision of the majority.

He also wondered why Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is still living in self-denial even as their ignoble actions during the elections are well known across Nigeria and beyond.

“I know that everybody in Rivers State, including our opponents in the last general elections expected these sweeping judgements because we were all witnesses to the widespread violence and irregularities that marred the various elections.

“As a party and law abiding citizens, we are happy that at last, light has overshadowed darkness, and this in itself is encouraging. Although the journey has been winding and most painful but we have remained steadfast knowing full well that at all times, truth will always take the limelight over lies and evil, no matter how hard human beings try.  Therefore these landmark judgements are vindicating and heartening.

“For our opponents, I wish to counsel them to quickly come to terms with the new reality which intensely abhors electoral violence and fraud. No society can make progress in an atmosphere of brute force, violence, ignorance, intolerance, intimidation and all the vices our rivals employed and exhibited before and during the elections. As a people, we must strive to remain civil and accommodating of other views no matter our position for that is the only way to support the growth and sustenance of democracy and liberty.

“Therefore as we prepare for the impending but crucial re-run elections across our dear state, I call on our people to remember that Rivers, like other states in Nigeria, deserves the very best of representation. We cannot afford to support candidates who are evidently lacking in capacity and in all the necessary tools needed in modern day governance. God bless Rivers State!”

Wike completes his war on education – Rivers APC

Wike completes his war on education – Rivers APC

…….set to terminate RSSDA overseas scholarship for Rivers youths

By Nwaorgu Faustinus

The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has received with utter sadness the shocking news of the decisiimage001on by Gov. Nyesom Wike to summarily terminate the overseas scholarship scheme established by the former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for Rivers youths to study different critical disciplines overseas, alleging that the government stated that it will be withdrawing and bringing home the students from their various foreign universities.

The APC who made this known to journalists via a press statement signed by its spokesman, Chris Finebone, believed that by this singular action, the Wike-led State Government has announced to the world that it does not have the requisite capacity to govern adding that the action clearly makes it obvious that Wike’s government is a huge fraud contrived by persons who do not understand what vision is all about.

The read: “It is even more shocking that despite the serial borrowing embarked upon by Gov. Nyesom Wike since May 29, federal allocations and IGR totalling over N130bn in the past seven months, he cannot invest not more than N3bn to keep our children, wards, brothers, sisters and relations in schools overseas.

“The APC is inclined to believe strong speculations in the air that this very wicked action by the governor is aimed at indirectly punishing a handful of parents and guardians who may have relationships with some of the students. This is how low the mission of vengeance by the Wike government can get.

“We feel very worried that innocent young sons and daughters of our dear State are being made to live with injured psyche all their lives because a vengeful governor is on rampage looking for pound of flesh to exact. Indeed, not one of these children will ever overcome the pains and anguish this truncation of their ambition will bring to them for the rest of their lives on earth. Sadly, this governor does not get it.

“The APC is consulting widely with parents, guardians and leaders of thought of Rivers State and will make a comprehensive response to this decision aimed at killing the future of a generation of Rivers youths.

“The APC wishes to announce to traumatised parents and guardians that whereas Gov. Nyesom Wike is demonstrating that he has the power to truncate the future of our children’s education by terminating their scholarships and bringing them home in the most humiliating manner, those children will return to their schools as soon as the rightful governor assumes office in Rivers State, God willing.
